Today Team USA defeated Spain 107-100 to win a second consecutive Gold Medal in Basketball.  And LeBron James joined Michael Jordan, as the only other basketball player to win an MVP Award, the NBA Championship and an Olympic Gold Medal within the same year.

That is awesome, but I got one a bit better.  There are only 7 men in American Basketball history to have won an NCAA Championship, an NBA Championship and an Olympic Gold Medal in their careers.

Four of them are, Clyde Lovellette, K.C. Jones, Jerry Lucas and Quinn Buckner.  BUT three others have also won an MVP Award in the Regular Season and in the NBA Finals.  They are:  Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Bill Russell.

Lovellette went to Kansas, Jones and Russell went to the University of San Francisco (back to back winners in 1955 and 1956), Lucas at Ohio State, Buckner at Indiana, Jordan at North Carolina and Johnson at Michigan State.

Since Kobe Bryant and LeBron James did not attend college, they can not join this exclusive club.
